"The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing." – Walt Disney

Before we begin with all the tips and tricks for securing Seed Funding, let’s start with getting to know a bit more about what exactly it is.

What is Seed Funding?

Your business is like a plant, you sow a seed of an idea for your startup, nurture it, give it internal and external essentials for it to sustain itself. That is where Seed Funding comes into action.

Seed Funding is basically the financial support given to companies during their budding stage. It helps in transforming ideas into feasible businesses. Angel investors, venture capital firms, or startup accelerators are usually the initial sources of capital for a business at this stage. Seed investors are known for their willingness to take risks and invest in the future success of companies.

What are the uses of Seed Funding? 🌱

Seed Funding is essential for startups in multiple purposes as it acts as a catalyst for the growth of a business. It allows entrepreneurs to cover initial expenses, such as product development, market research, R&D, and hiring talent.

It is also important for creating a minimum viable product (MVP) and conducting proof-of-concept tests to gain additional investors in upcoming funding rounds. It gives startups the pathway to hit critical milestones and be able to secure later fundings.

Where to Find Seed Funding Opportunities? 🤩

There are several ways you can secure seed fundings for your business, some of them being:

  • Angel Investors: These individuals are some of the people with high net-worth who look to invest their capital in business that are at their early-stage. Getting connected to an Angel Investor would not only benefit in securing Seed Funding but also you can get one-to-one mentorship through this connection.

The best way to connect with an Angel Investor would be through networking with them at a Startup Networking Event. We are glad to announce that we offer this very opportunity at our own Networking Events, so keep an eye on our social media pages to learn about our upcoming networking events. Another way could be using websites that help startups to connect with Angel Investors. You can also leverage your social media and get connected to these individuals on those platforms as well.

  • Venture Capital Firms: These firms are on a look out for a startup with a high growth potential. To get connected to a VC Firm, it’s best to do some research about which of these firms specialise in the industry of your startup and then go about approaching them from there. You can also do some research on which of these firms has a history of investing in early stage business and you can get in contact with them. Again the best way to network with these would be through a networking event, but you can always connect with them online as well.

  • Crowdfunding Platforms: These platforms help startups to gain funding from a large pool of investors. These are online platforms such as Kickstarter which helps in raise funds for startups and you can validate your products or services through this to get an early customer engagement.
